luxury digs, with vintage-chic interiors. Espléndido's best rooms have terraces that open
up straight to the sea. Free minibar drinks and Nespresso machines are thoughtful extras
that help justify the price tag. Add three pools, a spa, cocktail bar and bistro, and you're
looking at one special place to stay.

Fornalutx

) This place is a tempting romantic escape. The British-owned country mansion
was built in the early 1800s by a Mr Reus, who got rich on the orange trade with France.
The eight rooms are all quite different and all have views; each is stunning and has re-
strained antique furnishings and exposed stonework, with plenty of light throughout.
Children under five are not welcome.

main square, Fornalutx Petit Hotel is as much art gallery as boutique hotel. Each of the
eight rooms is named after a contemporary Mallorcan painter and displays their
canvases. There's a free guest sauna and hot tub and a wonderful terrace with views over
the fertile valley.
