Hostal Miramar HOTEL €€
( 971 63 90 84; http://pensionmiramar.com ; Carrer de Ca'n Oliver, Deià; r incl breakfast €75-120;
Mar-mid-Nov; ) Hidden within lush vegetation and with views across to Deià's hill-
side church and the sea beyond, this 19th-century stone house with gardens is a shady re-
treat with nine rooms. Various artists (you can scarcely see the breakfast-room walls for
canvases) have stayed here over the years. The rooms are petite, antique-furnished and as
clean as new pins.
S'Hotel des Puig HISTORIC HOTEL €€

€199-315; Feb-Nov; ) The eight rooms of this gem in the middle of the old
town reflect a muted modern taste within ancient stone walls. Out the back are secrets
impossible to divine from the street, such as the pool and lovely terrace. The 'House on
the Hill' has appeared in a number of books about Mallorca, and even in a Robert Graves
short story.
Hotel Costa d'Or HOTEL €€
( 971 63 90 25; www.hoposa.com ; Lluc Alcari; s/d incl breakfast from €88/158; Apr-Oct;
) This secluded spot offers designer rooms in a stone building that backs on to
woods high above the Mediterranean. Rooms with sea views cost considerably more, but
you get the same views from the restaurant, terrace and pool. A 15-minute walk through
pine forest takes you down to a little pebbly beach with crystal-clear water.
Sa Pedrissa HISTORIC HOTEL €€€
( 971 63 91 11; www.sapedrissa.com ; Carretera de Valldemossa-Deià; s €180-350, d €210-350, ste
€350-490; ) Sublime. From a high rocky bluff looking down along the coast
and inland to Deià, this stunning mansion (which once lorded it over an olive farm and
may date back to the 17th century) is a luxurious choice. The service is faultless, the
views from the pool terrace and many rooms are glorious, and the rooms are unpreten-
tiously classy.
La Residencia HOTEL €€€
( 971 63 90 11; www.hotel-laresidencia.com ; Son Canals, Deià; s/d from €316/519; Apr-Oct;
) 'The Res' to its habitués, this is where the rich and famous rub shoulders.
A short stroll from the village centre, this former 16th-century manor house set in 12
hectares of manicured lawns and gardens offers every conceivable luxury - uniquely de-
signed rooms, tennis courts, spa, two outdoor pools, a sculpture garden and superb res-
taurant, you name it.
