ing and cycling trails.
Sights
The town's attractions are quite spread out and you'll need a car to reach them.
Cap de Ses Salines LIGHTHOUSE
(Carretera de Cap de Ses Salines) Follow the Ma6110 highway 9km south of Llombards to
reach the Cap de Ses Salines, a beautiful bluff on Mallorca's southernmost tip with a
lighthouse dating back to 1863. There's not much here at the cape, but stretching out
along either side of it are wonderfully unspoilt beaches protected by the Reserva Marina
del Migjorn de Mallorca.
The eastern beaches are hewn out of the coastal cliffs that run up towards exquisitely
beautiful coves like Caló des Màrmols, beaches like the Platja d'Almunia and caves like
Cova de Sa Plana. A rugged coastal path links them all in an 8km trail.
Botanicactus GARDENS
( www.botanicactus.com ; Carretera Ses Salines-Santanyí; adult/child €9.50/4.50; 9am-7.30pm)
Just outside town is Botanicactus, which claims to be Europe's largest botanical garden,
bristling with palms, bamboo groves, cypress, carob and orange trees and 12,000 cacti.
Come to wander among its 1000-plus species of Mediterranean, exotic and wetland
plants.
Poblat Talaiòtic dels Antigors ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE
One kilometre out of Ses Salines, heading towards Colònia de Sant Jordi (follow
the signposts), is this neglected archaeological site. There's no visitors centre, the gate is
always open, and only virtually illegible plaques remain, so use your imagination to see
how these low stone walls would have once constituted a prehistoric settlement.

Signposted off the Ma6014, 3km northwest of Ses Salines, this ostrich farm is certainly
different. The main attraction is the chance to see, stroke and feed the ostriches, which
