In-Depth Information
it look a piece of cake. If you plan to take the plunge, however, we highly recom-
mend getting a guide.
Experience Mallorca ( Click here ) guides know the rocks like the back of their
hands. You'll jump off cliffs between 3m and 12m in height, which sounds easy-
peasy but don't be fooled - the moment when you leap and plunge is every bit as
nerve-shattering as it is exhilarating.

Cala Sant Vicenç
POP 290
One of the loveliest little corners of the northern Mallorcan coast, Cala Sant Vicenç is ar-
rayed around four jewel-like cales (coves) in a breach in the Serra de Tramuntana, with
fine views across the turquoise waters northwest towards the sheer limestone cliffs of
Cap de Formentor. The village is really only open for business from May to October.
Beaches
The first of the beaches, Cala Barques , is sandy until you hit the water, when you have
to pick your way over rocks to reach submersion depth. Pretty (well, they're all pretty)
Cala Clara is similar. Cala Molins is the biggest of the four, with a deep sandy strand and
easy access into the shimmering waters of this tranquil inlet. Cala Carbó , around the
headland, is the smallest and least visited. It doesn't take more than 20 minutes to walk
the entire distance between the four.
If you walk for 15 minutes along Carrer Temporal from behind Cala Clara and then
down Carrer de Dionìs Bennàssar, you'll hit a rise with park benches and the Coves de
L'Alzineret , seven funerary caves dug in pre-Talayotic times (c 1600 BC).
