Eating
The Ma10 passes though the town centre, where it becomes the main street and is lined
with bars, restaurants and shops, particularly at the village's eastern end. Quality varies,
but there are some high-quality mainstays sprinkled among the others that come and go
with the years.
Village Cafe INTERNATIONAL €
( 971 63 91 99; www.villagecafedeia.com ; Carrer Felipe Bauzà 1; mains €9-15; noon-11pm Wed-
Mon Mar-Oct; ) Swathed in flowers and vines, the terrace at this stone-walled cafe has
broad views of the Tramuntana. The gourmet burgers are a fine pick, as are the salads
and bocadillos (filled rolls). As the ceramic lanterns flick on and the cicadas chirp at
dusk, it's a highly atmospheric spot for a G&T and tapas.
Sa Vinya MEDITERRANEAN €€€
( 971 63 95 00; www.restaurant-savinya.com ; Carrer de Sa Vinya Vella 4; mains €15-29;
1-11pm Wed-Mon Feb-Nov; ) Cobbled steps trail up to Sa Vinya and its subtly lit terrace,
overlooking citrus groves and the Tramuntana's wooded peaks. It's a magical spot for
dinner, and freshness shines through in sunny Mediterranean flavours like melon
gazpacho with tarragon, hake with saffron risotto and whole sea bass. BBQ nights are
popular and the friendly service is unfaltering.
Ca's Patró March SPANISH €€€
( 971 63 91 37; Cala Deià; mains €10-25; 10am-11pm Jun-Aug, shorter hours rest of year) This
is probably the pick of the two places overlooking the water for its slightly elevated
views, but it's a close-run thing. It has a wide range of grilled meat and fish dishes - the
star of which seems to be the Sóller gambas . It's run by the third generation of a local
fishing family.
Can Lluc SEAFOOD €€€
( 649 198618; Cala Deià; mains €10-20; 10.30am-7pm May-Oct) If you can't bear to drag
yourself too far from your towel, this simple bar-eatery couldn't be more convenient.
