In-Depth Information
(Carrer de Ma d'es Moro 3; 10.30pm-4am Tue-Sat) As dark and moody as a blues bar
should be, this intimate spot a stone's throw from the busy Carrer dels Apuntadors hosts
free blues concerts usually around midnight, mostly attracting a young hippie crowd.
Football
Palma's top division RCD Mallorca ( 971 22 12 21; www.rcdmallorca.es ) is one of the bet-
ter football sides battling it out in the Primera Liga. They have never finished as champi-
ons but usually wind up with a respectable spot about halfway down the ladder. The side
has played at the Iberostar Estadi (Camí dels Reis, Polígon Industrial) , about 3km north of
central Palma, since 1999. You can get tickets at the stadium or call the ticket booking
number.
Shopping
Start your browsing in the chic boutiques around Passeig d'es Born. The Passeig itself is
equal parts high street and highbrow, with chain stores such as Massimo Dutti and Zara
alongside elitist boutiques. In the maze of pedestrian streets west of the Passeig, you'll
find some of Palma's most tempting (and expensive) stores. Another good shopping
street is the pedestrianised Carrer de Sant Miquel.

( www.colmadosantodomingo.com ; Carrer de Sant Domingo 1; 10am-8pm Mon-Sat) It's almost
impossible to manouevre in this narrow little shop, so crowded are its shelves with local
Mallorcan food products - cheeses, honey, olives, olive oil, pâté, fig bread, balsamic vin-
egar, Sóller marmalade to name just a few - while sobrassada hangs from the ceiling.
Chocolate Factory CHOCOLATE

( www.chocolatfactory.com ; Plaça des Mercat 9; 10.30am-9pm Mon-Sat) The Chocolate Fact-
ory does precisely what it says on the tin. Besides irresistible pralines, macaroons and
slabs of amazingly intense 100% cocoa chocolate, it also does a fine line in chocolate -
filled ensaïmades , chocolate fondues, cakes and ice cream.
