Whereness user groups.
Some businesses will benefit from Whereness more than others but in general
there will be some applications that are common to all. Similarly, some consumer
groupings are more likely than others to use the social side of Whereness while
others may benefit more from the care applications. Each of the more important
applications of Whereness will be discussed in the following chapters. Figure 3.4
shows these applications clustered according to business sectors. In the center of
the diagram the personal applications are clustered that are not sector specific and
would be provided directly by a service provider to individuals either personally
or via their employer.

Summary
Whereness has an important part to play in the digital networked economy both
now and increasingly in the future. ICT costs are falling so the relatively high
costs of some elements of Whereness are becoming less of a problem. More
computer applications are being offered as Web services as Web 2.0 makes steady
progress, and map-based interfaces are some of the most popular, which is
allowing users to geotag information.
