Plunging into the far east of Guizhou province from Kaili to Zhenyuan, the train
traverses an astonishing panorama of surging peaks and hills densely cloaked
with trees. The delightful riverine town of Zhenyuan sits picturesquely astride
the Wuyang River (Wuyang He), pinched between towering cliffs and peaks.

The epic vertical warren of temples, grottoes, corridors and caves of
Qinglong

rises up against
Zhongheshan on the far side of Zhusheng Bridge, flooded with lights at night
and forming a sublime backdrop to town.

arches topped with a three-storey pavilion, is an impressive sight, leading visit-
ors across the water to Qinglong Dong.

Yumun

( Yumen Matou), identified by the decorative arch.

There are rooms everywhere in the old town and even the old Tianhou Temple
has accommodation overlooking its roof. Don't expect any spoken English.
