Canal Towns
Partly due to their small size, the lovely water towns of Zhejiang and Jiangsu
have preserved their Ming- and Qing-dynasty architecture, despite being em-
bedded in China's rapidly changing eastern seaboard. A tempting tableau of
arched bridges, stone alleyways, ancient temples, canals and creaking archi-
tecture, the towns of Zhujiajiao ( Click here ) , Suzhou ( Click here ) and Tongli (
Click here ) are all easily accessible, offering a glimpse of a vanishing way of
life.
