Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces
After a bumpy bus ride to the highland in northern Guangxi, you'll be dazzled
by one of China's most archetypal and photographed landscapes: the splen-
didly named Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces ( Click here ). The region is a
beguiling patchwork of minority villages, with sparkling layers of waterlogged
terraced fields climbing the hillsides tenaciously. You'll be enticed into a game
of village-hopping. The most invigorating walk between Ping'an and Dazhai vil-
lages offers spine-tingling views. After the summer rains, the fields glisten with
reflections.
