Ater 30 minutes, the unattached cells are removed, and the cell culture surface appears like the
micrograph on Figure A.5b , with four blue cells attached on the central “X” region. Ater 24
hours, the cells have proliferated and have been able to attach and migrate onto the “Y” region
(but not onto the “Z” region!), with the result that the island looks approximately like that in
Figure A.5c .
