2. Determine how much time needs making up.
(a) Is it a big setback or only minor?
(b) Minor setbacks can be fixed with more time input or slight tweaks to future
schedules.
(c) Major setbacks will require feature omissions or major reworking of project
goals.
3. Determine what needs tweaking.
(a) If a setback is caused by one certain feature, this features specification may
need to be revisited, or if it is beyond the ability of the team to implement
it, special training or specialists will need to be brought into resolve to
issue.
(b) If the setback is due to not enough time and not from the complexity,
adding more work time or removing functionality will be required.
4. Make the changes required to bring the project back on schedule.

permission
to
implement
changes
and
document
these
changes
accordingly.
13.6 Phase VI: System Demonstration
The hard work is now done. The project has reached release and it is time to bring
to the stakeholders a working demonstration along with promotional materials.
The point of a product demonstration is to show the stakeholders what has been
done and what has not been done. The presentation should take place in a com-
fortable atmosphere where an honest exchange is possible. If the development has
been undertaken with skill and professionalism then the product demonstration
should be easy and enjoyable for both the presenters and the presentees.
There is no better way to get the good points of a software developer's work
across to their audience then a well planned, developed and executed demon-
stration. In the same respect software demonstrations can leave a foul taste in the
stakeholder's mouth at its completion. This section will focus on the do's and do
not's of software project demonstrations.
13.6.1 What to Bring
The demonstrators should wear professional dress and maintain proper business
procedure with addressing and interacting among themselves and with stake-
holders. If the audience has a good impression of the presenters then they will have
a good impression of the products. The presenters of any product should attempt to
