EXERCISE 3.2 (continued)
3.
Click Add A Network, Wireless, Or Bluetooth Printer. A list of printers on your network
appears.
Notice in the following graphic that the same printer was found twice because it has
two connections: it's locally connected to one of the PCs on the network—hence the
network path \\XPS\HP Photosmart C4700 series . Because it also has its own network
IP address, 192.168.2.4 , it appears that way too. In this case, it would be better to share
the printer via its IP address so that it will continue to be available even when the local
computer isn't running.
4.
Click the printer to which you'd like to connect, and then click Next. The printer driver
is installed. Windows may prompt you for a driver, on CD for example, if it can't
fi nd one.
5.
Follow the prompts that appear (which may vary depending on the printer) to complete
the installation.
Monitors
A monitor is a video display screen. On a notebook computer, the monitor is built in; on a
desktop computer, it's a separate component attached to the main computer with a cable.
LCDs
Most monitors sold today are liquid crystal display (LCD) , the same type of fl at-panel
display found on modern TVs (see Figure 3.2).
