Mapping coordinates
After selecting and modifying materials, when we apply these to objects, sometimes
we need to change something on the objects. This is called mapping coordinates
and represent the way materials are painted on faces and surfaces. To distinguish
mapping coordinates from modeling coordinates, letters U, V, and W are used, U
and V being face coordinates and W the normal to face. The next command controls
mapping coordinates.
The MATERIALMAP command
The MATERIALMAP command (no alias) allows you to modify mapping coordinates
for selected objects or selected faces. Mapping coordinates can be adjusted to geo-
metry faces, such as Planar , Box , Spherical , or Cylindrical and then, moved or ro-
tated. By applying the command from the Render toolbar or ribbon, we can specify
the geometry directly.
