trols if the material looks Unfinished , Glossy Varnish , Semi-gloss Varnish , or Sat-

selected. Relief Pattern controls relief or main bump if Based on Wood Grain or
Custom is selected. The Amount value controls the relief importance. Tint specifies
a color to tint the material.
Note
The key to adjusting and adapting materials is trying. We may start from a ma-
terial already included and proceed to some changes. Whenever we change a
material, it is wise to give it a proper name, so as not to confuse it with the origin-
al.
Instead of trying materials with complex models, it is better to fine-tune them with
a sample object of similar size.
Images and other textures/maps
Most materials and material templates use images and textures, also known as
maps, to compose the main aspect, cutouts, relief, and bump, and other parameters.
Besides applying images, we can apply procedural maps to simulate tiles, wood, ir-
regularities, and other effects. Procedural maps have the advantage of tiling perfectly
adjusted effects, that is, effects are placed several times side by side, which look
continuous, without a mosaic effect.
Every material parameter that accepts an image or texture/map displays a list con-
taining all texture types, which are displayed in the next screenshot. After picking
one, AutoCAD displays the Texture Editor palette with related parameters.
