Graphics Programs Reference
In-Depth Information
To load a material to the current drawing, we can double-click on the name or pre-
view of a material, or drag it from the library to the
Document Materials
area.
Note
Before loading materials, it is wise to check the
UNITS
command (alias
UN
). The
Insertion scale
unit should be according to our model, so texture sizes are near-
er to what we need and immediately visible when rendering or with the
Realistic
visual
style.
When passing over a material from a library, two small icons are displayed. The
left one loads the material and the right one, besides loading it, also opens it on
Materials Editor
. But be careful; both icons apply the material directly to selec-
ted objects.
Assigning materials
The
MATERIALATTACH
command allows you to assign commands by layer, thus be-
ing the most flexible way for assigning materials, even to objects not yet created.
Also we may apply the
MATERIALASSIGN
command. Besides these two commands,
there are some more ways to assign materials to objects or object faces:
• Dragging the material to the object: We can drag the material from the
Document Materials
area or the
Library
area to objects
• Selecting objects and applying the
Assign to Selection
option: We first
select objects and then apply this option by right-clicking on the menu
• Selecting objects and applying the
PROPERTIES
palette: We select the
objects and choose one of the loaded materials with the
PROPERTIES
palette, available at
3D Visualization/Material
• Selecting subobjects and applying the
Assign to Selection
option: We
first select subobjects with the
Ctrl
key and then apply this option by right-
clicking on the menu
