Elizabeth Fort
Elizabeth Fort was built in the 17 th century as a defensive installation outside the city prop-
er. Despite being just steps away from the massive St. Finbarr's Cathedral, it is actually
quite difficult to see from the street, and many tourists miss it altogether. But once you find
your way in, you can climb to the top to get the best city view Cork has to offer. Elizabeth
Fort also hosts a weekly Market Festival, where local merchants congregate to sell food,
handmade souvenirs, and other local goods.
