Nightlife in Cork

Pubs & Clubs
Cork is full of students, and that means one thing - lots and lots of bars. You won't have
any trouble finding a place to wet your whistle in this town, although earthy, traditional
pubs are less common than rowdy student bars and pulsing nightclubs.
One of the best ways to experience Cork's nightlife (for those up to the task) is the Cork
City Pub Crawl , which takes place every Friday night and stumbles its way into 4 or 5
pubs before the evening is out. The specific itinerary varies from week to week, so check
out their Facebook page if you want updates. On certain evenings, the pub crawl also in-
cludes free glowsticks, which tells you a little about the sort of drinkers it attracts.
An Realt Dearg (Elizabeth Fort)
Cork's oldest pub (est. 1698) may be the oldest continuously-operational pub in the coun-
try. Several pubs in Dublin, such as the Brazen Head, are much older, but have had inter-
ruptions in their service. Naturally, this title is hotly contested, but “The Gateway” (as it
was once known) is a solid contender.
