Eating in Belfast
The dining options in Belfast are extremely diverse, although it's not always easy to find
a traditional Irish meal here. You're covered on Indian, Mexican, Thai, and Chinese at all
budget levels, but it takes a little work to find the sort of food that's more commonplace in
Munster or Connacht. Here are a few local favorites for traditional meals:
Bright's Restaurant (41-43 Castle Street and 23-25 High Street)
Locals will swear by one location or the other, but most travelers report that they're pretty
similar. There's no other place in Belfast to get traditional food this cheap, especially on
their spectacular breakfast menu.
Darcy's Restaurant (10 Bradbury Place)
A step above Bright's in terms of price and atmosphere, but still pretty inexpensive. This is
a great family restaurant, especially if you can take advantage of their early bird specials,
which are quite cheap, but end at 7pm. Perfect destination for an early dinner!
Restaurant Michael Deane (36-40 Howard St)
Creative takes on Irish and international cuisine. Belfast's only restaurant with a Michelin
star, and with all the atmosphere and service to boot. This place is definitely not cheap.
