Nurseries tend to have potted 3-inch green-growing plants from early spring into the
summer. These are young vines that are in active growth, with several green shoots and
root systems with plenty of new growth, similar to a container-grown shrub or vine you
would purchase at the garden center. If you are planting during the growing season and
can get some of these green-growing plants, that's what you should do. During late fall or
winter you will typically get dormant vines from the nursery. These are the easiest to get
if you source your vines from far away, as it is easier to ship dormant vines in plastic with
