The grapes emerge near the base of the canes, first as small clusters of buds.
The flowers are visible as the clusters start to open up.
As the fruit develops and the clusters get heavier, they will start to hang down-
ward.

In Paris in 1973, a blind tasting was held with professional wine tasters from France.
The purpose was to compare wines from France with those from the Napa Valley in Cali-
fornia. It was inspired by the California vintner Robert Mondavi, and resulted in the Amer-
ican wines being chosen as winners over many of the French wines.
