The principal metabolites produced in vitro by human liver microsomes are
5-hydroxycarbaryl, 4-hydroxycarbaryl, and carbaryl methylol. Most of the 16 recombi-
nant human CYP isoforms tested had some activity toward carbaryl, with CYP1A1 and
CYP1A2 having the greatest ability to form 5-hydroxycarbaryl, CYP3A4 and CYP1A1
to form 4-hydroxycarbaryl, and CYP2B6 to form carbaryl methylol ( Tang et al., 2002 ).
