The way approaches Alderley through a colourful tunnel of trees
On this stage of the walk one is reminded yet again of the district's past dependence
on the wool and cloth industries, for in places the route leads through valleys and
alongside streams whose power was formerly harnessed by cloth mills. Some of these
mills are still to be seen today. Others which once lined the valleys disappeared with
the coming of the Industrial Revolution. Though many of the mills may have gone, the
valleys and their streams remain to give the walker a day of gentle pleasures.
