Turn right, pass in front of the clubhouse and take to the edge of the
fairway. After passing along the left-hand side of some barns, veer right
and continue round the edge of the golf course. Beyond a green the path
takes you through a wooded area, and when it forks you veer left and
emerge to the fairway again near a seat. Marker posts lead you on, and
across an open section take you through another wooded section to a
crossing path near a wooden barn. Turn left, then right to a track. When
this begins to descend into woods, leave it and veer left to pass among
trees and scrub. Dodging in and out of woods that border the golf course,
you eventually come to the stone-built Tubbs Shelter on a promontory a
little north of Drakestone Point.
Here the path cuts sharply left and takes you close to a trig point, bey-
ond which there's an intricate stone seat. The path curves round the edge
of the golf course fairway and cuts across the steep slope, with views to
the Tyndale Monument on Nibley Knoll. Above Stancombe Farm a tall oak
signpost directs the way to the left, passing through another brief section
