On the outer edge of the woods a track brings you to a solitary cottage
with a splendid view. Shortly after this you go through a gateway and onto
a narrow metalled drive to pass a number of cottages, one of which is
the Haven Tea Garden (accommodation, refreshments). This has become
something of an institution among Cotswold Way walkers, for a warm wel-
come and refreshments have been dispensed here since 1981. Opposite
Primrose Cottage, at the entrance to a house called Stoneleigh, bear left to
find a track which leads to a footpath rising into more woods. Go through
a kissing gate and continue uphill to a junction of paths where you bear
left among beech trees and eventually gain the open glade of Cooper's
Hill , on which there's a maypole (grid ref: 892146). Glorious views are
