A snatched Cotswold view through the trees above Paradise, near Painswick
Walk uphill along Gloucester Street, passing the oneway system which
directs the B4073 down into town, until you come to a minor road branch-
ing right. Walk along this, then on a footpath beside trees until you reach
the lower part of a golf course. Aim across this towards the left-hand side
of a church and its cemetery. Continue ahead with the cemetery wall on
your right, so passing the little church that serves the parish of Paradise.
Beyond the wall cross another open golf-course fairway to a clear path
heading through a strip of woodland (tree-screened views off to the right).
Pass Catsbrain Quarry and go on a track to a narrow lane climbing left-
wards uphill across the golf course. A short distance along this lane, break
away to the right on a waymarked path. This takes you across the golf
course between fairways heading northeast below the crown of Painswick
Beacon (grid ref: 867121). It's worth making a slight diversion onto the
hill for the views.
