This directs you to the right, along the left headland of a large field, then
on a continuing track between hedges, finally emerging beside the A46.
Cross with great care at the nearby traffic island, and turn right on a
feeder road leading to a car park/picnic area containing public toilets and a
telephone box. At the entrance to the car park/picnic area take a footpath
left into a strip of woodland. Out of this turn left, follow the field bound-
ary beside the continuing woods and you will soon gain a view of folding
hills and neat meadows - a welcome return to countryside sanity after the
traffic madness of the M4 and A46.
When the woods finish, continue along the field boundary, but near the
bottom look out for a waymark directing the path left into a new field.
Walk alongside its right-hand hedgerow and maintain direction on a die-
straight course, passing beneath high-voltage power cables as you do, to
