In-Depth Information
absence of governance functions, an LDAP data repository is
centered on its initial competency domain, i.e. the
management of user identifiers and passwords.
A collaboration between an MDM system and LDAP is an
interesting possibility. The MDM system is upstream of an
LDAP in order to govern all the data linked to an
organization. Only a part of this data is then exported to an
LDAP repository so that the applications, software packages
and desktop subsystems can access them in the usual
manner.
Having come to the end of this chapter, we are in
possession of a good analysis of data repository positioning
within a company.
In the next chapter, we study the strategic impact of an
MDM system in supporting enterprise governance and the
transformation of Information Systems.
