model. The use cases are translated, most commonly by
access rights at the MDM system level; the processes are
translated in a workflow, whether integrated in the MDM
tool, or independent.
8.2.1.7. Hardware and physical aspects
Definition: hardware and physical aspects
The hardware and physical aspects serve to describe the
hardware infrastructure and software installation. The
IT production teams are generally in charge of these
aspects.
In the MDM approach, we describe the physical
implementation of the data repository on the IT
infrastructures, particularly if a duplication of the repository
exists for performance, reliability and security purposes. It is
also necessary to detail the configurations of the production
servers that house the MDM system, the network
connections used for access, the configuration of work
stations, etc.
8.2.2. Choosing another method
We have just described the principles of the Praxeme
method, and its use in relation to the MDM approach. This
capacity to customize the method to constrain and enrich it
to a smaller application field, here the MDM system, is a
determining factor. Indeed, a company concerned with
industrializing its IS and IT work practices, must not accept
the use of different methods depending on the types of
projects that must be carried out.
The same modeling procedures must be used for projects
involving transactional data as well as for the MDM system,
