situation the mutualization of the factory model is either:
- a positive factor, as all the existing data repositories
must conform with this new business regulation; or
- a problem, because it is preferable that the existing
data repositories are not all aligned with this business
regulation. For the MDM system in this case, it is necessary
to ensure the co-existence of two different versions of the
Factory data model and opt for the use of one or the other
according to the data repository. Over time, the alignment of
all data repositories to the same Factory data model is
undoubtedly preferable so as to rationalize costs and
increase data quality.

In the end, it is generally less dangerous to mutualize the
data modeling rather than to allow the differences in the
shared reference and master data to increase. The level of
useless complexity in the IT systems surrounding the silo
effect shows this.
The lack of data traceability, auditability and flexibility
are more damaging than the effort required to reach an
agreement on the mutualization of common data.
