Return on Investment
The MDM approach, used across the whole of an IT
system, requires a new budget to support the reorganization
and manage changes, launch and support data modeling
work, install software solutions, and to connect the data
repository to IT systems in order to synchronize the
databases. Nonetheless, this investment can be carried out
in a progressive manner, without turning the existing
systems upside down. This is made possible by reconciling
the Enterprise Architecture approach to data, associated
with a gradual implementation of each data repository. Work
on each repository provides a return on investment, at the
same time as correcting existing faults but also giving the
company new opportunities in which to maneuver, via
improved quality and reliability of data, mastering of
operational risks, transformation of the IT system.
4.1. Financial gain from improved data quality
The first potential source of financial benefits that must
be studied is that arising from the lack of quality of reference
and master data. Companies are faced with this low quality
in their everyday activities, for example when sending out
