Your Reaction and Visual Answer: Create Knowledge Visualization
Make knowledge visualization using data and information gathered till now for your previous activities. First, you may want to expand
your knowledge to provide a context for your visualization. Then, create a metaphor that shows the data in an easy way because metaphor
is considered a structure of choice for communicating messages.
For example, you may pretend to be a visual analyst for a glove company and you are expected to analyze the market from the users' point
of view. You may develop a metaphor for client expectations, demands for gloves with particular length and width, store networks database,
and other data sources. Draw a funnel where all these data will enter from the top, while results of the analysis will go out from the bot-
tom opening of the funnel: cost allocation, storing capacity planning, reports on planning, resources, workflow for creative development,
marketing, visibility, cooperation, etc.
For presenting your knowledge-based statement about future solutions in developing instruction in your school district, design a knowledge
map showing a colorful map of your district as an island in the sea of various needs, with geographically presented information about teach-
ing, learning, tutoring, and your conclusions.
For the analysis of the daily amounts of fluids you drink, you may choose a tree metaphor. Your data may be organized into ranks with each
level secondary to the one above, for example, as a hierarchy of the tree limbs, branches and twigs. The length and thickness of branches
characterize various factors that determine your present state. They may show the variety of drinking options you can choose from, what is
their content and how healthy they are, cost analysis, etc., while the roots below may represent your conclusions and decisions about future
structure of your liquid diet.
For knowledge visualization about planets you may want to create a still life consisting of a table with a vase with different kind of flowers.
To visualize temperature related climate issues you may create a knowledge map in the form of a city street, where the house sizes, number
of stores, displays in store windows, as well as the car colors, speeds and directions will inform the viewers about factors involved in tem-
perature changes, reasons for future drifts, and possible ways to control them.
