with the celebrity image (for example, http://

art works and also objects have become the ac-
cepted American icons, such as a painting entitled
“American Gothic” created by Grant Wood (1930),
or an apple pie. One may say such everyday objects
as recycling bins, disposable cups, credit cards,
cell phones and even smartphones, which com-
bine mobile phones with the mobile computing
platform and the media players, can be considered
iconic objects telling about our current civiliza-
tion; intense globalization processes make them
meaningful all over the world.
A group of people may accept a cultural icon
as a symbol representing their shared beliefs,
a period in history, social status, or a life style.
“Symbols in Nature” (Figure 4) tells how many
objects and creatures became for us the cultural
icons, which we use in everyday conversations. At
the same time, they are fundamental in biology-
inspired computing, which knits together many
fields of study (e.g., genetic algorithms, cellular
automata, communication networks, or artificial
life) with their biological counterparts.
To describe love, do not use forbidden words:
Heart, rainbow, moonlight.
After absorbing concepts of necessity, radiance,
and spectrum
You will no longer need them.
