By default, OpenOice.org saves and loads iles in a format known as the Open Document
Format (ODF) . his is a standards-based, royalty-free ile format supported by the majority of
oice suite packages—including newer versions of Microsoft Oice.
When saving a ile in OpenOice.org, you can change the format using a drop-down menu in
the Save As dialogue. Under File Type, you can select a variety of formats, including several
which are fully compatible with older versions of Microsoft Oice. When you're sharing iles
