(115 m) towers for panoramic city and mountain views. The Museo de la Ciudad (Vicente
Rocafuerte and García Moreno) is housed in the oldest civic building in Quito which
happened to serve as a hospital for travelers and the elderly as far back as the 1500s.
Today it's a museum dedicated to telling Quito's story through life-size dioramas depict-
ing eras in local history and altars representing the Quito School of Art. The Museum of
the City is also the site of Eugenio Espejo's birth, the world's first Ecuadorian doctor.

For a bite to eat or just a cup of organic Ecuadorian coffee, head over to Cafeto ; (Chile
and Flores) a long-time Quito favorite. In keeping with the neighborhood's identity the
café has a historic feel to it, with high ceilings and a wooden loft area. Walls are bright
and the food (breakfasts, sandwiches, desserts, etc.) is very affordable. If you've
wandered the Old Town well into the night, dip into Café Dios No Muere (Flores and
Junín) nestled between two historic convents. This pink cubbyhole is big with locals and
travelers alike and the perfect gem to dine in on your first night in the Centro Histórico.
Its owner is from New Orleans so expect an eclectic, delectable menu.
