mighty close. Treks through the alien landscape to Volcán Chico and a collection of
smoking sulfur mines can be combined with Sierra Negra ascents, though keep in mind
that all are quite strenuous.
Corona del Diablo
Circling off Floreana's northern coast is 'The Devil's Crown', a formation of rocks resem-
bling a crown that makes an excellent diving or snorkeling site. If you've come to the
Galápagos to snorkel, you can't miss La Corona , so make sure your cruise stops there or
book a day tour from Quito or Puerto Ayora. It is the most visited site off of Floreana es-
pecially for families or 'soft adventure' types, as the conditions are much more accommod-
ating than other sites on the Galápagos. Most tours leave you in the deep side, where you
can swim with penguins, dolphins and rays before swimming counter-clockwise around
the caldera to the sandy shallow side popular with sea lions.
