In-Depth Information
is your best bet if you're on a shoestring. Rooms are spacious and clean with A/C, hot
showers and WIFI, but all three services are sporadic. Its central location (a big plus)
make it a bit noisy, too.
Hotel Red Booby
Plazas Avenue and Charles Binford
www.hotelredbooby.com.ec
$$
This hotel is the all-around best option for a safe, clean and comfortable stay, especially if
it's not for too long. Rooms and common areas (including a rooftop pool and dining
room) are immaculate; some with private patios. It's close to everything and lacks a little
character, so it's best used for convenience sake.
Red Mangrove Aventura Lodge
Charles Darwin Avenue and Piquero
www.redmangrove.com
$$$
Red Mangrove is a beautiful first-class lodge without the sprawling hotel feel; it matches
the personality of Galápagos perfectly. They're also a National Geographic Dive Center
with locales on Isabela and Floreana Islands, and you can trust them to organize a custom
tour for you. White stucco walls and tile mosaics characterize the rooms, while a sushi
restaurant, Jacuzzi and hammocks complete the common areas.
Finch Bay Eco-Hotel
Water taxi from PA dock or pre-arrange transfer
$$$
There is nothing very 'eco' about the Finch Bay Hotel, but their exclusive beachfront loc-
ation, flawless service and luxury digs make it a top choice for those staying on Santa
Cruz. It feels like an all-inclusive resort in general, but the beach it's on is actually public
so you will have to share with everyone in town (especially on weekends). Birds like her-
ons, ducks and (you guess it) finches are known to lounge around common areas along
with guests.
