Cocolón is the name given to the crunchy rice that gets stuck at the bottom of a pot when
cooked and is served as a side snack in many coastal homes. It's also this restaurant's
namesake, which serves big, tasty portions of traditional Ecuadorian fare in a modern es-
tablishment, with recycled art on the walls and Guayaquileño music sounding from the
speakers. Service is excellent.

This elegant Guayaquil institution serves coastal seafood dishes in a restored colonial
mansion. People come for the ambience - lush gardens wrapped around wood shutters and
a stone fountain, vintage photos on the walls and local VIPs gathered on period furniture.
