In-Depth Information
The Czech Republic is a member of the EU's common border and customs
area, the Schengen Zone, which imposes its own 90-day visa-free travel limit
on many visitors from outside the European Union. In practice, this means
your time in the Czech Republic counts against your stay within the entire
Schengen Zone - so plan your travel accordingly.
Women Travellers
Solo women travellers are not likely to experience any special difficulties in
Prague or the Czech Republic. Walking alone on the street is generally as
safe - or as dangerous - as in most large European cities.
In Prague, a couple areas for women to avoid at night would be the park in
front of the main train station, which attracts a lot of vagrants, and the upper
part of Wenceslas Square, which becomes effectively a red-light district at
night.
