the late 17th century and is Kroměříž's big-ticket sight, with an 84m-high baroque
tower visible for miles around. Main attractions include impressive interiors, boast-
ing baroque and rococo murals, as well as the tower, gardens , and an impressive
art gallery with works by the Venetian master Titian and other luminaries.
The palace was built by Charles II of Liechtenstein-Kastlekorn, a bishop, on the
site of a previous Gothic and Renaissance castle levelled by the Swedes in the Thirty
Years War. Entry is by guided tour only, but the art gallery and tower can be seen
without a guide.
