Top Tip
Experience the countryside on a bike: the tourist office proffers advice, maps and the
brochure Viticulture and Viticulture Discovery Trails (also available at pensions and
hotels). Many pensions rent bikes.
Getting There & Away
Train There are several daily trains to and from Znojmo (66Kč, one hour) and Bře-
clav (39Kč, 30 minutes), an important junction for onward services to Brno, Bratis-
lava and Vienna. See the online timetable at www.vlak-bus.cz .
Bus Mikulov is easily reached by bus from Brno (65Kč, 1½ hours), with coaches
leaving hourly. From Prague, there are few direct buses; the best approach is to catch
a bus for Brno and change. Regional bus services are good, with frequent buses to/
from Znojmo, Valtice and Lednice.
Car Mikulov, situated between Prague and Vienna, is a three-hour drive from
Prague. From Brno, the drive takes around an hour.
