From 24 December to 1 January, tourists engulf Prague and many Czechs take an ex-
tended holiday. A Christmas market is held in the Old Town Square beneath a huge
Christmas tree: also here on New Year's Eve, massive crowds gather for a huge mid-
night fireworks display.
