Three main
tours
are offered: Tour 1 (one hour) takes in the opulent Renaissance
rooms; Tour 2 (one hour) visits the Schwarzenberg portrait galleries and their 19th-
century apartments. The Theatre Tour (40 minutes, 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Sunday
May to October) explores the chateau's remarkable rococo theatre.
Wandering through the courtyards and
gardens
is free. Scramble up the castle
tower for views over the town below.

Not far from the castle gardens, this photography museum presents a mov-
ing retrospective of the work of local photographers Josef Seidel and his son
František. Especially poignant are the images recording early 20th-century life in
nearby villages. In the high season you should be able to join an English-language
tour; if not, let the pictures tell the story.
Inner Town & Around
Below the castle, the town fans out in a confusing web of backstreets and alleyways,
bridges and riverbanks. The best way to get your bearings is simply to follow your

This excellent private gallery houses a small retrospective of the
controversial Viennese painter Egon Schiele (1890-1918), who lived in Krumlov in
1911, and raised the ire of townsfolk by hiring young girls as nude models. For this
