city's nicest residential neighbourhoods. Don't expect anything fancy in spite of the
elegant setting. The rooms are plain and small, with tiny beds. The location is ideal,
just a short walk to the Náměstí Míru metro stop.

The polished Ametyst straddles the line between
boutique and hotel, with just enough style points in the lobby (nice retro flagstone)
and the rooms (hardwood floors, arty lamps and flatscreen TVs) to put it in the
boutique camp. All the rooms have air-conditioning and wi-fi access, and there are
tubs and hair dryers in the bathrooms.
On a negative note, rack rates have risen steeply in the past couple of years, though
the hotel does offer frequent discounts on its website. There are dozens of places to
relax within easy walking distance in one of the nicest parts of leafy Vinohrady.

Clean, attractive and smallish, Hotel Luník is
on a quiet residential street a block from Peace Square and between the Náměstí Míru
and IP Pavlova metro stations. The lobby and public areas exude a quiet sophistica-
tion. The rooms are homey and slightly old-fashioned, with attractive green-tiled
bathrooms. The friendly receptionist may be willing to negotiate room rates on slow
nights.
