Sat & Sun) Inside the medieval Prague Gate tower, this atmospheric cafe/art gallery
spreads across three floors and is served by an ingenious dumbwaiter: write your or-
der on the note pad, ding the bell, and the tray goes down, returning moments later
with your order. Choose from a range of freshly ground coffees, exotic teas, local
wines, beer and medovina (mead).
Terezín
Explore
The former concentration camp of Terezín provides a sobering reminder of the horrors
inflicted on the Czech people during WWII.
It's possible to visit Terezín on a guided day trip from Prague, but in our experience
these tours tend to be a bit rushed. Our advice is to allow a full day, bring a picnic
lunch, and begin by visiting the Ghetto Museum (where you can pick up information
leaflets and maps) and Magdeburg Barracks. It's worth walking past the old railway
siding to see the crematorium before crossing the river to take a self-guided tour of
the Lesser Fortress.
Top Tip
Rather than eat at one of Terezín's crowded tourist restaurants, take a bus or taxi to at-
tractive Litoměřice, 3km to the north. The town square has several good eateries.
Getting There & Away
Bus Direct buses from Prague to Litoměřice (165Kč return, one hour, hourly), stop at
Terezín. They depart from the bus station outside Praha-Holešovice train station.
There are buses between Litoměřice bus station and Terezín (9Kč, eight minutes, at
least hourly).
