An artistic treasure in an unlikely spot in Holešovice, the Alfred regularly stages
demanding works of drama, dance, cabaret and movement theatre, including occa-

Created in 1930 by puppeteer Josef Skupa, Spejbl and Hurvínek are the Czech mari-
onette equivalents of Punch and Judy, although they are father and son rather than
husband and wife. The shows are in Czech, but most can be followed regardless of
which language you speak.
