Explore: Vinohrady & Vršovice
Vinohrady and Vršovice are largely residential, and mostly off the tourist trail.
Vinohrady, in particular, has a well-earned rep as the stomping ground for upwardly
mobile singles and young couples. For visitors, the money and success have a big up-
side: Vinohrady has some of the city's best restaurants and cafes. After you've seen
the sights in the centre, you'll want to head here for that perfect meal. Most of the
places are clustered within walking distance of the main metro stops: Náměstí Míru
and Jiřího z Poděbrad. After dinner, there are several pubs and clubs around. Žižkov,
where much of the serious drinking in Prague takes place, is just a short walk or cab
ride away.
Local Life
» Popular Hangouts If you get a warm evening, head to the beer garden in
Riegrovy sady ( CLICK HERE ). Great neighbourhood cafes include Café Kaaba (

of which attract a younger clientele and offer good coffee and free wi-fi.
» Markets The grassy area above the Jiřího z Poděbrad metro station is home to a
popular farmers market ( CLICK HERE ) every Wednesday and Saturday morning.
Come for homegrown food and lots of fun.
» Shopping Vinohrady's main street, Vinohradská, is the centre of home design in
Prague, and even if you're not in the position to buy anything, it's fun to poke around
the various shops and see the latest in interior fashion. One of our favourites is Stock-
ist ( CLICK HERE ).
