DRINKING & NIGHTLIFE
Nové Město, particularly the area around Wenceslas Square, is still a bit of a
magnet for stag parties and groups of young lads on the piss - best avoided if
you're looking for a quiet drink. But there are plenty of good drinking holes, too.
Check out the streets south of Národní třída near the river, where you'll find lots
of studenty cafes and quirky wine bars.

beer and a range of flavoured beers (including coffee, banana and cherry, 40Kč per
0.3L). The pub itself is a pleasant place to linger, decked out with polished copper
vats and brewing implements and smelling faintly of malt and hops.

( 296 236 233; Štěpánská 61, Pasáž Lucerna; 8am-midnight; Můstek) This retro-
styled place has bentwood chairs and curved wooden benches in the smoky, dimly lit
front room (there's a nonsmoking room beyond the bar), with exhibitions of arty
black-and-white photography on the walls. The coffee is good and reasonably priced,
and there's delicious Kout na Šumavě beer on tap at a very reasonable 37Kč per half
litre.
