the middle of a replanted medieval vineyard, this place is aimed squarely at the hordes
of tourists thronging up and down the Old Castle Steps. But the setting is special -
outdoor tables on terraces with one of the finest views in the city - and the menu of
classic Czech dishes doesn't disappoint.
If you want something fancier, the Piano Nobile restaurant within the villa itself of-
fers a French-influenced fine-dining menu.

dishes, many of them vegetarian, and a drinks list that includes ginseng wine, Chinese
rose liqueur and all kinds of tea. Credit cards are not accepted.

( 605 294 595; Úvoz 6; 11am-midnight; ; 12, 20, 22) A superb drinking den
barely five minutes' walk from the castle. Head for the back room, quirkily decorated
with weird art and mechanical curiosities by local artist Kuba Krejci, and an ancient
jukebox. Foaming Pilsner Urquell is 38Kč a half-litre, and the coffee is damn fine,
too.
