Set up options for the project and environment. Pressing the Options menu will reveal
that there are two options to be set. The processor options have been set and can be
ignored. Select Environment options and a popup dialog box will appear, as shown in
Figure E.13, which shows the Directories options. Users can enter the search paths for
several types of files in this dialog box. If users have created their own library and included
files, they may enter them in this dialog box. The setting in Figure E.13 is acceptable and
need not be changed for this tutorial.
After setting the options for Directories , make sure that the options for Preferences
are set properly. The dialog box (shown in Figure E.14) for setting them will appear after
the user clicks on the Preferences menu. The Default directory option is the default place
for the EGNU IDE to look for files to be added to the project. Users should change it to
match their own setting. The directory c:\books\hcs12\programs is where this author
stores all the programs in his HCS12 book.
The third option is related to the text editor. Click on Editor and the dialog box
for setting editor options appears as shown in Figure E.14. Users can set the available
options according to their preference. After the options for the editor have been set
properly, click on OK.
The fourth option is related to syntax colors. Click on Syntax colors and a dialog box
appears as shown in Figure E.15. EGNU IDE allows the user to set the color of nine differ-
ent components in a program, including the comment, identifier, keyword, number, space,
string, symbol, white space, and directive. The color of any component is indicated by the
word FG on the color map. The color for comments is shown in Figure E.16.
The fifth option to be set is related to associations. The default settings are accept-
able. The sixth option to be set is related to the COM port. Click on COM Port and its
